These are a few of his favorite things...
So my lil old soul is quite the character these days, i was sitting at work today, yes a Saturday :(, when my mom sent a pick of Luke at Crocodile rock class with the infamous crocodile xylophone! And it got me thinking about some of his favorite things and how he loves the most random stuff, for example washing his hands. Yeah that's right the kid gets pumped when its time to wash his hands, so much so that i use it as a distraction when he acting like a tool and he forgets what hes mad about and cant run upstairs fast enough. Sometimes I'll notice things are too quite and ill head upstairs and hes standing on the toilet bent over on to the sink washing his hands. I'm pretty sure this is a characteristics he gets from his germ a phobe G-Pa because i have nothing against germs hahaha Bill's new thing is covering his face with his shirt when someone is coughing, so the other day we were at Target and Wendo and Luke were in the toys checking out a display where you push a big button and the truck would do something crazy. Wendo tells Luke to push the button and he straight pulls his sleeve over his hand to touch the button, really, what 22 month old is worried about touching a button with his bare hand but has no prob eating something after the dog's taken a bite form it hahaha I blame Bill of course. Another one of Luke's all time favs is of course is sweeping but the other day we decide to buy a swifter spray jet thing for our hard wood floors and Luke was obsessed with it. Following Josh around yelling for him to give it up. He would swifter all night if you let him not to mention use the whole thing of cleaning fluid in it. When we finally put it away you would have thought we gave his dog away with the fit he threw, I think he thought he was dying hahaha even offering him to wash his hands wasn't helping :) He also loves 60's rock. My dad has one of those PBS shows or it might be an infomerical for all i know saved on his DVR, but it shows a bunch of 60's rock bands singing on The Ed Sullivan Show and Luke loves it! His favorite is the Turtles singing Happy Together hahaha hes my lil old soul like I said. And last but not least he LOVES his skateboard! He loves it when josh will hold his hand and take him down our hill of a street on it. He will bring you his helmet and make you put it on and then grab his board and wait at the door till you take him out there and not quietly by any means. One day after picking him up from the sitters he convinced me to take him out there and after the 5th time down the street i felt like my back was going to give out! Having to bend over for the whole trip down the street with Baby Ryde in tow was no picnic but of course Luke doesn't get that and was crying when we had to go inside because i couldn't do one more trip. Which then made me fell like shit so I was crying too hahaha so a bunch of ball babies hanging out in our living room, it was quite the shit show. So on Tuesday Josh and I were able to take him to the skate park by our house and he was in heaven, watching all the hoodlums (that probably should have been in class but what do i know) practice tricks and go off rails etc.. there was even a few bowls that kids were riding their bikes in. Luke was jumping off his skate board trying to mimic everything and Josh was able to pull him around on some of the ramps before it got too crowded. Of course all the dudes were impressed by Mini Luke's "skills" and he was the center of attention which he digs. We definitely had to skateboard all the way to the car because there was no way we were getting that kid to just walk away from that place. Hes starting to be able to push him self on his board without holding onto anything which i was able to get on video for a second before he got distracted with something else in the back yard, he does have that baby ADD hahaha

Ryde Tannen Chavez!!
So Baby Dos's official name is Ryde Tannen Chavez. This battle is over, and I have lost which doesn't happen very often (Josh - 2 Val - 1,000) but after a month of debate, the name has grown on me and with Josh making such a stink about it I cant imagine his name being anything else anymore, which I'm sure was all part of his master plan! And it doesn't help that Luke can say it and it sounds so precious coming out of his mouth. Don't worry though, I plan on using this for a LONG time, "Remember when I let you name our son Ryde..." hahaha I think that line may come in handy a time or two or 50!! So I started pulling out all of Luke's old clothes that don't fit anymore and I'm not quite sure where its all going to go. These 2 minions may be getting their own rooms based solely on the fact that I cant fit all their clothes in 1 room! I of course bought Ryde some of his own things that way not everything of his is a hand me down. I am the oldest and Luke was a boy so there were no hand me downs when I was growing up but I'm sure its nice to have some things that are only yours, not that he will know any better till he's older and Luke starts rubbing it in his face,"that use to be mine" but its the excuse ill use to be able to buy him things because I love to shop!!
Damn you Baby melt downs!
So on my way home form Luke's first Crocodile Rock class this morning, (that we had to leave 5 minutes early from because Luke had a Luke Chavez Blow Up,) I was thinking why your kids melt downs for the most part always seem so much worse then when someone else's kid is having one?
Since this was the first class I wasn't really sure what to expect especially since the age range was from 18 months to 5 years old which is a HUGE difference. It was a pretty good mix of kids of all ages so it was nice that Luke wasn't the only one who couldn't talk really or sit still for that matter. At the beginning of the class another kid was having a melt down about sitting down quietly and what have you and I thought to my self why do i get so embarrassed when Luke acts up, as this women kid isn't bothering me at all, hes a child who doesn't want to sit, I get that haha I don't think shes a bad parent because her kid wants to act like a tool once in awhile, don't they all?!?! So I thought next time Luke has a Blow up I'm not going to get so worked up about it, it happens, its life as a toddler. Welp t-minus 40 minutes later and an hour late for his morning nap, a Luke Chavez Blow Up was in full swing. The lady running the class had brought out all the kid instruments for them to play with earlier and now it was time to put them away. Luke had other plans which did not included putting away the crocodile xylophone he was playing with, hence the beginning of the melt down. As I'm picking him up and gathering his stuff I'm thinking "OMG everyone has to be staring at me and wondering what kind of parenting skills i have" Do i dare look up to see the judgemental stares? I do and find that not one parent is looking at me out of the 20 that were there. And I thought "see no one cares, they all get it" I mean I still made him leave early for throwing a fit but It felt good to be in a place where everyone in the room understood my pain as a parent dealing with a screaming kid. I'm sure everyone in the midst of their child's melt down as felt this way, oh the joys of parent hood :)
